Madeline Martin

Madeline Rose (Freeman) Martin, age 91 of Caro, formerly of Bay City, went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2008 at Satchells Christian Retirement Home with her family present. She was born on January 17, 1917 to the late William and Emma (Fisher) Freeman. She graduated 1936 from Caro High School. Madeline was a dental assistant in Saginaw and a lab technician for both Mercy Hospital and Bay City General, retiring from East Medical Building in 1976. Madeline was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan. She enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great- grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Married to the late Leo D. Martin, June 19, 1940, who preceded her in death on April 4, 1945, while serving in WWII in Germany. Surviving are her children, two sons and one daughter, William (Viola) Martin of Caro, John Martin of Bay City, Virginia (Robert) LaMere of Bay City; six grandchildren, Julie Martin, Wendy Martin, Billie Jo (Ryan) Davies, Sarah LaMere, Jessica (George) Escamilla and Michael LaMere; nine great-grandchildren, Megan, William, Brandon, Mitchell, Brittany, Lindsey, Kelsey, Chad and Gavin; two great-great-grandchildren, Logan and Paige; along with several nieces and nephews and one brother-in-law. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Arlene Salgat and Virginia Freeman and three brothers William, Harvey and Robert Freeman. A special thanks to Satchells Christian Retirement Home in Caro and Saginaw Americans Hospice Care, Inc. employees for their loving care of our mother. A funeral service will be held at Collon Funeral Home (302 S. State St., Caro, MI 48723) on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Arnold Burger officiating. Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Monday, July 21, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Americans Hospice Care, Inc., 2575 N.
