Madeline Urmos passed from this world on Monday, May 07, 2007, at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law and under the care of Heartland Hospice. The former Madeline Vennevy was born on November 2, 1918 in Lansing, and came to Caro as a child. She out-lived her four spouses. She was married to Frank Smith, Herman Godfrey, Albert Burnham and Joe Urmos. Mrs. Urmos was a homemaker and had been a seasonal worker at the Clark Canning Company. She enjoyed her family, picture puzzles and embroidery. During her residence at the Caro Senior Commons, she enjoyed senior programs at the Caro Meal Center. Madeline is survived by her children, Louis (Marilyn) Smith of Caro, Marion Smith of Caro, Barbara Craig of Millington and Alice (Jerry) Adams of Deford; thirteen grandchildren, including Brenda Emmons who took her grandmother into her home and cared for her; twenty-one great- grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Two of her families are five generations. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Fred, Richard, Charles and Emma Vennevy; and a grandson, Tim Smith. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Karen Bouverette, Heartland Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will precede burial at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Madeline Urmos family discretionary fund c/o Brenda Emmons.
