Madelyn F. Metiva

Madelyn F. Metiva of Caro, age 94, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 at her home. Madelyn was born May 3, 1926 in Colling, the daughter of the late Elmer and Faye (Lovett) Colling and was a graduate of Caro High School, Class of 1944. She was first employed as a lift truck driver and machine worker at Cadillac Motors in Detroit. At that time, they were manufacturing B-29 airplane motors and parts. Madelyn went on to work at Detroit Edison in Caro until her marriage to Seaman First Class Ernest Dembowske in June of 1945, and that union ended in 1965. Madelyn was a life-member of the Colling Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday school, sang in choir and duets, lead youth group meetings, and missionary studies. She enjoyed writing, painting, and playing the organ. In 1980, Madelyn graduated from nursing school and worked at Caro Community Hospital and Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital, retiring in 1989. In June of 1981, she married LeRoy Metiva and the couple, "Lived happily ever after." Madelyn is survived by her loving husband, LeRoy Metiva; two children, Lynn Ernest Dembowske, Janice Dembowske Vollmar and her husband, David; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Madelyn was preceded in death by two sons, Gene Richard Dembowske, Timothy Lee Dembowske; and one brother, Richard Colling. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. David Boulton officiating.
