Madelyn Skaggs

Madelyn Skaggs of Caro, formerly of Cass City, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro. Madelyn was born July 15, 1930 in Caro to the late Grant and Laura (Kelly) Turner. She was united in marriage with James Skaggs in August of 1955 in Bowling Green, Ohio. Jim preceded her in death on May 20, 2012. Madelyn was employed at Hills and Dales General Hospital in Cass City as a Registered Nurse and later as Director of Nursing. She loved antiques and her cottage and the life it gave her. At one time she had helped move a home, brick by brick, from one location to another in Lexington. Madelyn was a special lady who was fortunate in having many longtime friends. Madelyn is survived by two children and their spouses, Catherine & Don Erla of Caro, Gary & Suzanne Skaggs of Madison, Alabama; three grandsons, Jerry Erla of Caro, Brad Erla of Clawson, Ethan Skaggs of Madison; and one sister, Laurann "Jean" & James Dennis of Manistee. In addition to her parents and husband, Madelyn was preceded in death by three brothers. In keeping with Madelyn's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering is being planned for a later date.
