Magdalen Ann Papkey

Magdalen Ann Papkey of Frankenmuth and formerly of Caro, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw, following a courageous battle with cancer. Maggie was born February 1, 1951 in Cass City, the daughter of the late Stanley and Gale (Anderson) Wood. She was a graduate of Unionville High School, and the first in her family to graduate from college. Maggie was employed at Walbro/T.I. Automotive for more than thirty years, retiring in 2006 due to illness. A free spirit, she enjoyed traveling, camping, bird watching, knitting, collecting teapots and reading. Maggie is survived by her husband, David Papkey; children, Valarie & Edward Wardle, Jonathon & Pamela Ramirez, Dick & Brenda Papkey, Daniel & Deb Papkey; eleven grandchildren, Jasmine & Eric Raleigh, Shawna Johnson, Gabrialla Ramirez, Gracie Ramirez, Jonathon Ramirez, Lucas Ramirez, Kara & Russell Eggleston, Richard & Jennifer Papkey, Devin Papkey, Matthew & Erin Papkey, Christopher & Marcie Papkey; seven great-grandchildren, Hunter, Taylor, Wyatt, AnnaLeigha, Gabriel, Elijah and Jayden; brother, Everett Wood. In addition to her parents, Magdalen was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Ramirez; infant brother, Duane; and a sister-in-law, Valerie Wood. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Tim Lang officiating. Private burial will be at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
