Major Arnold Jerome "Jerry" Westhaus, Us Army

Arnold Jerome "Jerry" Westhaus of Caro, age 68, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family. Jerry was born April 30, 1951 in Ohio, the son of the late Arnold and Coletta Westhaus. He graduated from Saint Xavier High School with the University of Detroit, graduating with degrees in History and Political Science. Jerry proudly served his country with the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1993, attaining the rank of Major. Following his retirement from the Army, Jerry spent the remainder of his working career at the Pat Curtis dealership in Caro. Jerry was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America and was an avid historian. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family. Jerry is survived by four children and their spouses, David & Julie Westhaus of Mt. Pleasant, Kate & Tim Flintoft of Yokosuka, Japan, Andy Westhaus and fianc, Jessica Fremd, of Swartz Creek, Kiley Nichol of Caro; eleven grandchildren, Anna, Ben, Leyna, Lukas, Norah, Natalie, Diedrick, Delilah, Emma, Bristol, and Rhodry; his partner in life, Mary Davison; and one sister, Jo Ann Geraci. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one grandson, Hazen Nichol; and one sister, Claire Jean Brill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro with Rev. Jerzy Dobosz officiating. Military honors under the auspices of the U.S. Army and Caro American Legion Post #7 will follow the service. Burial will follow at a later time at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Boy Scouts of America.
