"I go to meet the love of my life - Jesus!" Mercedes "Marcie" Rodriguez, created by God, returned to His Kingdom on Friday, June 3, 2022. Marcie was born on September 24, 1945 in Natalia, Texas, the daughter of the late Simon & Alberta (Longoria) Rodriguez. In 1960, Marcie migrated with her parents and siblings to Michigan where their strong work ethic and family bond continued to grow as they tended to the fields as migrant workers. The family settled in the Caro area, and Marcie and her siblings attended Akron-Fairgrove schools. On August 7, 1965, Marcie was united in marriage with Thomas Michael Kostanko of Cass City, who preceded her in death in January of 1985. Marcie always joked that her "first baby" was Thunder Road Speedway, which Tom and Marcie built from the ground up. Wanting to continue her education, Marcie attended St. Clair Community College where she earned her LPN certificate and later her RN degree. Over the course of her career, she worked at Hills & Dales General Hospital, Saginaw General Hospital, and managed a number of physician's offices. No riches in the world could ever replace the love she had for her sons who survive her, Del (Jane) Kostanko, Brent (Carrie) Kostanko, and Travis (Jessica) Kostanko; her beautiful grandchildren, Samuel Kostanko, Lilia Kostanko, Madison Kostanko, Thomas (Jasmin) Kostanko, Isabella (Jacob) Hand, Olivia Kostanko, Mayah Kostanko, and Kayla Kostanko; and great-granddaughter, Josie Kostanko. To carry on the ministry of Jesus are her beloved siblings, Adam (Judy) Rodriguez, Terry (John) Kostanko, Eva (Bud) Rodriguez, Lilly (Gerard) Kolanowski, David (Margie) Rodriguez, and Ray (Michelle) Rodriguez; and many nieces and nephews who have Marcie's eternal love. In addition to her parents and husband, Marcie will join her brother, Simon Jr., and her nephew, Simon Williams, at the gates of Heaven. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Saginaw (936 North 6th Street, Saginaw, MI 48601) with Fr. Frank Voris officiating.
