Margaret "Susie" Ashton

Margaret "Susie" Ashton of Kingston, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 1, 2018 at her home. Susie was born March 4, 1943 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Edmund John Wesolowski, Sr. and Mary Margaret (Kotovich) Wesolowski. She graduated from Marlette High School with the class of 1960 and was united in marriage with Donald Ashton on February 13, 1964 in Detroit. Don preceded her in death in October of last year. Susie's working years were spent with J.C. Penny in Caro and Lapeer, a career that lasted more than twenty years. She will be remembered as a generous soul that was happiest when giving to others. No one ever left her home hungry and her lush gardens provided plants for countless friends and family. She enjoyed sewing, making crafts, reading, and travelling with her beloved Don. Susie was also a longtime member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Wilmot. Left to cherish her memory are five siblings and their spouses, Mick & Deborah Wesolowski of Snover, Mark & LeeAnn Wesolowski of Sandusky, Margo Bolam of Croswell, John & Lisa Wesolowski of Sebewaing, Julie Laeder of Capac; many nieces and nephews that she treated as her grandchildren; and in-laws that became close friends, Gord & Cheryl Ashton of Sterling Heights, Joe & Ellen Penrose of Chicago, Illinois. In keeping with Susie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marlette with Father Wayne Vreel officiating.
