Margaret Ann Bender

Margaret Ann Bender of Akron, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at her home, following a period of declining health. Margaret was born March 6, 1929 in Bridgeport, the third of eight children born to Frank C. and Marie M. (Parker) Leaym. She graduated from Saginaw High School in 1947 and went on to work for a law firm in Saginaw for several years, and later was employed as a factory clerk for Michigan Sugar Company from 1967 until the time of her retirement in 1988. Margaret was united in marriage with Glenn Bender on January 28, 1950. The couple had celebrated fifty-three years of marriage prior to Glenn's death on April 16, 2003. Margaret enjoyed working in her flower gardens, reading, crossword puzzles, traveling, and hoeing beans on the family farm. Left to cherish her memory are three children, Dale Bender of Caro, Joan Wilder of Bay City, and Jill Woloshen of Mayville; grandchildren, Chris (Jamie) Wilder, Joel (Michelle Pretzer) Wilder, Tara (Shawn) Murphy, Kevin Bender, Jason (Katie) Bender; great-grandchildren, Maddison, Leah, and Kellan Wilder; sister, Susan (Norm) Scheffler; brother, Kenneth Leaym; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Twinkie. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janet; son, James; son-in-law, Steven Woloshen; siblings, Marjorie Rohlfs, Linda Roth, Jack Leaym, Frank J. Leaym, and Larry Leaym. In keeping with Margaret's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Cass River Pet FriendZ.
