Margaret A. Cockerill, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 1, 2010 at St. Marys of Michigan. Margaret was born October 8, 1932 in Mayville, the daughter of the late Merritt & Marion (Kildau) Mathews, and graduated from Mayville High School with the class of 1950. On February 2, 1951, she was united in marriage with William Bill Cockerill in Caro. Margaret and Bill traveled much of the world during Bills twenty-seven years of military service, until his retirement in 1977 when both returned to Caro. Shortly after, Mac began employment at the Tuscola County Court House for about five years, spent a brief time at the Social Security office in Saginaw, and finished her professional career with the Department of Human Services in Caro, retiring in 1992. Margaret was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro and enjoyed playing golf, shopping, reading, quilting and water color painting. Left to cherish Margarets memory are five children and their spouses, James & Kris Cockerill of Oak Park, Illinois, Barbara & Richard Frank, Roxanne Hiser, Diane Credeur, F. Mark & Lisa Cockerill, all of Caro; eight grandchildren, Jason Smith, Jordan Frank, Tyler Frank, Samuel Credeur, MacLain Credeur, Terran Cockerill, A. Brett Cockerill, Bailey Cockerill; one sister and her husband, Mary Lou & Forrest Lobdell of Caro, and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Bill Cockerill, on August 10, 2006. Also preceding her in death were triplet infant grandchildren, Shelby, Erica and Morgan Hiser; and two brothers, Larry and Douglas Mathews.
