Margaret Gainforth

Margaret F. Gainforth, age 93, of Unionville, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Tendercare Nursing Home in Cass City.

Margaret was born December 3, 1921, to the late Theophil and Matilda Saelens. She married Harold Gainforth on October 25, 1938. He preceded her in death.

Margaret enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards, attending church, traveling, crocheting and spending time with her family. She taught catechism at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing.

Margaret is survived by her children: Priscilla (James) Gokey of Unionville and Roger Gainforth of Sebewaing; grandchildren: Tamra Babcock of Unionville, Connie (Chuck) Gaylor of GA and Arnold (Watha) Gokey of GA, Lorrie (Allen) Sakon of Sebewaing, Scott (Gloria) Gainforth of Unionville, Rod Gainforth of Sebewaing, Roxana (John) Schlund of Auburn, Lee (Jenny) Gainforth of Sebewaing, and Rocky Gainforth; 27 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law: Pauline Gainforth of Unionville and Almay Miller of Bay City.

Preceded in death by her husband, Harold; siblings: Madeline Northup, Archie DeMartin and August Saelens.

Visitation will be Friday, March 20, 2015, at Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 3-8pm.

The funeral service will be Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Our Lady of Consolata parish (Holy Family Catholic Church) in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.

Burial will be at Hickory Island Cemetery in Akron Twp.

Memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice or the Diabetes Association.
