Margaret "Ruth" Harrington

Margaret "Ruth" Harrington of Akron, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at McLaren - Caro Region. Ruth was born October 23, 1927 in Caro, the daughter of the late Henry & Julia (Uhl) Becker. She graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1945 and attended school in St. Louis, Missouri before working for a short time at Garber Buick in Saginaw. Ruth was united in marriage with Glen Harrington on October 1, 1949 in Akron, and he survives. Her true profession was raising her five children and assisting her husband on the family farm. Ruth was an active member of the Caro First Baptist Church and its AWANA program as well as a 4H leader for many years. She and Glen were founding members of the Cass City Square Dancing Club which they enjoyed for over fifty years until the club disbanded. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and visiting friends. Ruth is survived by her loving husband of sixty-eight years, Glen Harrington; five children and their spouses, Greg Harrington of Akron, Brent Harrington of Caro, Gene & Wendy Harrington of Akron, Karen Harrington of Akron, Marilyn & Tim Harms of Grand Rapids; seven grandchildren, Jared Stilson of Caro, Jade Stilson of St. Clair Shores, Andrew Harrington and his wife, Katelyn, of Allendale, Luke Harrington of Akron, Sarah Harms of Hudsonville, Austin Harms of Kent, Washington, Rosemary Harms of Grand Rapids; one sister, Mildred Bliss of Yountville, California; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by four brothers, Victor, Raymond, Norm and James Becker; and one daughter-in-law, Sherri Harrington. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Caro First Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald C. Wigand officiating. Burial will follow at Demorest Cemetery in Akron. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Caro First Baptist Church or the donor's favorite charity.
