Margaret Kirby

Margaret Kirby, age 84 of Elkton died Monday morning, August 29, at her home.

She was born October 9, 1926 in Horsching, Austria to the late Rudolf and Katrina (Haslinger) Datscher and moved to England on her own at the age of 14.
She met and married Cyril J. Kirby in England and moved to the US in 1965, settling in Hazel Park.

Margaret worked as a home health aide first, then as the cook at the Farm House Restaurant in Hazel Park for 25 years, retiring in 1986 when it closed. In 2004, she moved to North Carolina to live with sister and recently moved to Elkton to be nearer her son.

Surviving are her son Dave (Chris) Kirby of Elkton; her granddaughter, Kathleen (Mike) Gilbert of Ubly and three grandchildren, Michael, Jacqueline and Andrew all at home. Preceding her in death was a granddaughter, Jacqueline Kirby.
Preceding her in death are three sisters, Irma Molzen, Hilda Crowder, and Rosa Bila and four brothers, Ernst, Rudolf, Herman and Adolf Datcher.

A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, September 10, at the Community in Christ Church, 5 miles south of Elkton.
