Margaret Laurel

Margaret C. Laurel, age 105, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Lutheran Home in Frankenmuth, following a brief illness. She was born on July 28, 1907 in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of the late George Harvey and Margaret Clara (Mitchell) McIntosh, coming to Canada with her family as an infant. She was united in marriage with James L. Willis in 1935 in Allen Park. He preceded her in death in October of 1948. She then was married to Daniel L. Laurel in 1950 in Detroit. He preceded her in death in March of 1972. In the mid 1950s, they made their home in Caro. Margaret moved to Frankenmuth to live in 1987 and has lived there since. Margaret enjoyed sewing and needle work and doing light carpentry. Margaret is survived by one son and his wife, James & Joanne Willis of Frankenmuth; three grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren; three step-children, Nancy Heimbach of Livonia, Patricia & Daniel Blankenship of Florida and Daniel Laurel, Jr. and his wife, Ruth of Westland. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one step-son, Robert John Laurel. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Lutheran Home in Frankenmuth for their love and expert care given to their mother. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. James Solomon officiating. Burial will follow at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Frankenmuth Wickson District Library.
