Margaret Louise Nagy, age 87, of Caro passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Tendercare in Cass City. She was born on November 16, 1922 on the family farm in Almer Township to the late August and Albena (Goka) Romain. Margaret attended the Almer Center School and graduated from Caro High School in 1940. During her youth, she (like many other farm girls) stayed at the Hotel Montague and worked there while attending high school. She was employed for the majority of her life as a housekeeper at the Caro Regional Center until her retirement. In 1962 she married Nicholas Nagy in Bay City. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1987. Margaret was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and making crafts for the Sacred Heart Church Bazaar. Margaret supervised the in-house care of a neighbor for 10 years. She was a political activist and was involved in campaigning for local elections as well as advocating for other seniors. She is survived by four children, Lou Ann Fahlberg of Paynesville Minnesota, Paul McGrath of St. Ignace, Margaret (Peg) McGrath of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Mark (Kathleen) McGrath of Watersmeet; a grandson, Michael McGrath of Watersmeet; one sister, Loretta Miklovic; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Cpl. John August McGrath, who was killed in Vietnam; and the remainder of her siblings, Alice Lawe, Veronica Beecher, George and James Romain; as well as a son-in-law, Chuck Fahlberg. Funeral Liturgy will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place and burial will follow at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. the until time of service. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
