Margaret Mary Short

Margaret Mary Short, age 74, of Caseville, died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at her home while under hospice care.

Margaret was born June 15, 1935 in Detroit to the late John and Alyda (Dyer) Gorzas. She graduated from St. Philip Neri High School, Detroit. She married Gary L. Short in 1975. Together they lived in St. Clair Shores where she raised her family. Having vacationed to Caseville since 1985, they moved there permanently in 1998.

She loved her Lord and found many ways to serve Him, either by taking care of her family or being active in her church, Calvary Baptist Church. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Surviving are her husband Gary; daughters Debra (Wayne) Davis of Yorktown, Texas and Marianne Spleet of Utica; step-children Teal Short (Dean) of Clinton Twp, Rhodes Short of Clinton Twp, and Tiffany (Mike) Gennety of Roseville; grandchildren Mark, Apryl, Trisha, Melissa, Makayla, Gary Anthony, Stephen, Jessie, Danielle, Dylan and Allesandra; nine great-grandchildren; brother Thomas Granger of Cheboygan and sister ManyAnn (Louis) Berg of Grosse Pointe.

She was preceded in death by her children Catherine Tallman, John Tallman and Mark Tallman; stepson Gary Short; great-grandson Hunter; and sister Alyda Meirthew.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday May 5, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Goforth officiating. Cremation will follow.

Visitation will be 2-8 pm Tuesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. She will lie in-state one hour prior to the service in church on Wednesday.
