Margit Thomas age 75, of Grant Twp. near Cass City, died Saturday morning, October 8, at Huron Medical Center, Bad Axe.
She was born February 15, 1936, in Budapest, Hungry to the late Ferenc and Margit (Imre) Tordai. Margit lived in Hungry seven years, and in Germany seven years as well, moving to the US on July 22, 1950. She lived in Deford a few months than moved with her parents to Grant Twp.
On January 21, 1956, she was united in marriage to Harold A. Thomas at the Grant Methodist Church. They made their home in Grant Twp. He preceded her in death November 17, 2004.
Margit was a cook at the Rapson AFC Home in Pigeon for a number of years. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed making afghans and embroidery.
Surviving are her son, James (Vickie) Thomas of Grant Twp.; three grandchildren, Alyssa, John and Jonathan; two great grandchildren; her brother, Frank (Jeri) Tordai of Grant Twp. and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were a son, Gary Thomas and a brother, Danny Tordai.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 11 at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Elder Karen Bouverette of the Owendale Community in Christ Church will officiate with burial next to her husband in Grant Twp. Cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 PM Monday and after 10 AM Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to the family and words of condolence may be shared at www.cfcElkton.com.
