Maria E. Georges

Maria E. Georges, 71, of Caseville, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.

Maria was born October 11, 1949 in Detroit to the late Charles and Patricia (Kenyes) Georges. She graduated from East Detroit High School in 1967 and Wayne State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and a Master’s Degree in Mathematics. She taught at East Detroit Public Schools. She retired early and moved to the family cottage on Sand Point. Maria enjoyed meeting new people and was widely known for her friendliness and her enthusiasm for sharing her Greek ancestry.

She is survived by her brother George (Kelly) Georges of Clawson; nieces Sophia (Coy) and Stefanie (Robert), nephew Charles; and great-nephews Cade and Alex. She was preceded in death by her brother Byron.

Interment will be in Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
