Maria E. Schulze, 65, of Pigeon, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 at home under hospice care.
Mary was born October 26, 1955 in Denver City, Texas to the late Apolonio and Ella (Cantu) Avalos. She moved to Michigan as a teenager and graduated from Laker High School in 1975. She married A. Gene Schulze on March 12, 1988 at Cross Lutheran.
Mary danced through life. She enjoyed spending winters in Ellenton, Florida where she taught line dancing. Many hours were spent making her yard a beautiful tropical paradise decorated with flowers, flamingos and palm trees, complete with Jimmy Buffet and country music floating through the air. Mary had a happy soul and captured people’s hearts.
She is survived by her husband Gene; daughters Christina Bresky of Snover, Jessica of Pigeon, and Amanda (Filip) of Pigeon; grandchildren Matthew, Caden, and Mya; siblings Mary Guardian of Pigeon, Jesse (Mary) Avalos of Pigeon, John (Debbie) Avalos of Gagetown, Joe (Sylvia) Avalos of Pigeon, Joel (Lisa) Avalos of Grayling, Esther (Jeff) Hill of Pigeon and Raul Avalos of California. She was preceded in death by sister Juanita and brother Apolonio Jr. and brother-in-law Armando Guardian.
A private memorial was held. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
