Maria Elena Zamora

Maria Elena Zamora of Akron, age 81, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at Toni & Trish House in Auburn surrounded by her family. She was born on September 10, 1944 in Brownsville, Texas, the daughter of the late Eleuterio and Amelia (Cuellar) Villarreal. Maria married the love of her life, Ramon Zamora, in 1961. Their marriage was blessed with over thirty-eight years, six children, and countless memories. Sadly, Ramon passed in 1999.

Maria was a dedicated homemaker who will be remembered for her caring, kind, and generous nature. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and loved seeing her great-grandchildren whenever she could. In her free time, Maria liked putting together puzzles, knitting, crafting, tending to her flower gardens, and watching her favorite Spanish soap operas. She also looked forward to camping trips with her family and the memories they made together. Maria's kindness, smile, and love for her family will be greatly missed.

Maria leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Ramon, Jr. & Mary Zamora, Hernando Zamora, and Ricardo & Debra Zamora; grandchildren, Ramon James (Ashley) Zamora, Gabe (Erika) Zamora, Andrew (Elizabeth) Zamora, Kristina (Michael) Gregory, Alex Zamora, Zachary Zamora, and Logan (Codi) Zamora; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Santos, Eva, Naomi, Dora (Jose), and Minerva (Eddie); brother, Francisco (Maria); many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Maria was preceded in death by her children, Elena Zamora, Roberto Zamora, and Uvence “Vinny” Zamora; grandson, Nathaniel Zamora; and four brothers and one sister.

Maria’s funeral ceremony will be on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ransford Funeral Home in Caro. Rev. Michele Hile will officiate with burial following at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove. The family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Maria’s 2:00 p.m. service.
