Marian A. Erdody

Marian A. Erdody of Akron, age 93, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at her home, surrounded by loved ones. Marian was born December 18, 1925 in Mayville, the daughter of the late R.V. and Bessie (Harsh) Marsh. She was united in marriage with Ernest Erdody on December 8, 1951 in Mayville and the couple celebrated more than fifty-eight years together before his death on December 26, 2009. Marian was a devoted mother and grandmother, farmer, and an active member of the Fairgrove Presbyterian Church. Her spare time was often spent gardening, spending time with family, and enjoying winters in Florida. Marian is survived by four children and their spouses, Janet & John Carrick of Shalimar, Florida, James & Pam Erdody of Fairgrove, Marilyn & Rich Cottrell of Akron, Jody Phipps of Caro; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Marian was preceded in death by two brothers, Alton and Ellis Marsh; and one son-in-law, Gary Phipps. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Fairgrove Presbyterian Church with Rev. Philomena Ofori-Nipaah officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Fairgrove Presbyterian Church.
