Marie Hartsell

Marie Laura Hartsell, age 87, of Caro, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She was born on September 30, 1921 in Detroit to the late Earl and Irene (Swallow) Barnes. Marie moved to Tuscola County at age 14; first to Cass City and later to Caro. The former Marie Barnes married Leland Hartsell on March 4, 1960 in Saginaw. He preceded her in death on September 5, 1981. She was a wife, mother, and homemaker, as well as a member of the First Baptist Church of Caro and TOPS. Marie enjoyed traveling whenever she could. She is survived by one daughter, Deborah and James OBrien of Caro; three grandchildren, Jeremy OBrien of Reese, Matthew OBrien of Caro and Jessica and Justin Cook of Caro; one great- granddaughter, Amaia Cook; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ronald Wigand officiating. Burial will be at Kingston Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Marie Hartsell family discretionary fund, c/o Deborah OBrien, or the First Baptist Church of Caro.
