Marietta Bittner

Marietta Bittner age 93 of Elkton, died Friday evening, November 12, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe.

She was born August 15, 1917 to the late Joseph and Sarah (Carriveau) Souva. On October 11, 1937, she was united in marriage to Herbert A. Bittner at Hewleton. He preceded her in death September 24, 2002 after 65 years of marriage.
Along with her husband, Marietta owned and operated Herb's Bar in Elkton from 1940 to 1949, as well as the Elkton Dry Cleaners. She also cared for foster children for several years.

Marirtta was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Bad Axe. She was a past president of the Elkton VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 6013 and a past president of the Tenth District of Michigan of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary.

Surviving are her daughter, Joan (Al) Hanson of Grindstone, four sons, Ron (Carole) of Saginaw, Jerry (Crystal) Bittner of Past Falls, ID, Bill (Diana) Bittner of Elkton and Jim Bittner of Carlsbad, CA, 15 Grandchildren, Cindy, Kelly, Roxanne, Peggy, Stacy, Ron, Norman, Amy, Steve, Chris, David, Deidre, Daniel, Ryan and Randi; 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; her sister, Dora Grigg of Elkton and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her granddaughter Cheryl, three brothers, Nelson, Henry and Ray and five sisters, Annabelle, Mildred, Marie, Aritta and Cecelia.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, November 15, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Rev. Kenneth Lueke, pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Family and friends may call from 3 to 8 PM Sunday and after 10 AM Monday.
The family wants to greatly thank the aides and nurses of the Medical Care Facility - you are very special people to do the job, you do so well.
Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
