Marilyn J. Baur

Marilyn J. Baur, 78, of Bay Port, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at Ascension St. Mary’s
Hospital in Saginaw.

Marilyn was born February 9, 1942 in Bay City to the late Clarence and Luella (Nitz) Lutz.  She
attended St. John Lutheran School in Kilmanagh and graduated from Sebewaing High School in
1960.  She married Bruce Baur on April 28, 1962 at St. John Lutheran Church in Kilmanagh.

Marilyn worked at Michigan Bell in Saginaw after graduating from high school. Then, she and
Bruce joyfully raised three children on the family farm. She returned to work in Pigeon at
Michigan Directory.  She was a former Sunday school superintendent at Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church in Caseville. Currently an active member of Cross Lutheran Church, she
enjoyed serving on the Altar Guild and participating in Women’s Bible Study.  Marilyn was a
member of Townliners Extension Group and a faithful volunteer with the Scheurer Hospital
Auxiliary and Meals-on-Wheels.  She enjoyed playing BINGO with residents at Country Gardens
and Scheurer Long Term.

She was proud of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with all of them.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, canning fruits and
vegetables, quilting, baking, and sharing her goodies with her family and friends.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 58 years Bruce; children Duane (fiancé Elechia) of Bay
Port, Shelly (Scott) Walker of Georgia, and Rhonda (Dan) Heitzman of Grand Rapids;
grandchildren Keeley, Hannah, Warren, Zachary and Kelsey; granddaughter-in-law Emily;
brother Ron (Arloia) Lutz of Kilmanagh; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in
death by grandson Travis.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, January 13th at Cross Lutheran Church with Rev. Glenn Sokolowski officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8pm Tuesday at the church. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
