Marilyn L. Dennis of Caro, age 72, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, following a brief illness. She was born April 9, 1943 in Bad Axe, the daughter of the late Stanley E. and Ruth (Steadman) Morell. Marilyn was united in marriage with Jim Dennis on September 23, 1967 at the Dayton Center Church in Mayville, and he survives her. She had an ability to love kids unconditionally, and her life revolved around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Countless elementary students will remember her twenty-five year career as a playground supervisor and aide with Caro Community Schools. Marilyn was a member of the Caro Moose Lodge for over thirty years and an avid Bingo player. In her younger years, she also enjoyed bowling. Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of over forty-eight years, Jim Dennis of Caro; her children, Kathy Fader and her husband, Mike, of Caro, Jimmy Dennis of Caro, Karry Dennis of Caro; seven grandchildren, Heather Fader of Akron, Amber Steinmann and her fianc, Corey Zapfe, of Caro, Dakoda Sunday and her husband, Chad, of Florida, Travis Fader and his partner, Jeremy Keinath, of Saginaw, Mason Steinmann of Caro, Hannah Ray Dennis of Caro, Liam James Humpert of Caro; two step-grandchildren, Katie and Kristi of Florida; five great-grandchildren, Hayden, Raye, Dalton, Isaac and Rori; two sisters and their husbands, Joyce & Jim Neal of Tennessee, Betty & Jack Laurie of Gagetown; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by one daughter, Kelly Jo Dowd; granddaughter, Hailey Rose Dennis; and sister, Shirley Houghton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Caro United Methodist Church with Rev. Gregg Mayberry officiating. Burial will follow at Elkland Township Cemetery in Cass City. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. A Women of the Moose Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
