Marilyn Hobart

We lost a loyal wife, good homemaker, inspirational mother and grandmother when Marilyn Phyllis Hobart passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Northwood Meadows in Cass City at the age of 72. She was born January 4, 1935 in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of the late George & Eileen (Rogers) Keast, and came to Caro with her parents as a child. Marilyn graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1953, and following graduation, attended Cleary Business College in Ypsilanti. She was united in marriage to her best friend and high school sweetheart, Marvin J. Hobart on March 17, 1956 in Caro. The couple spent their first year of marriage in Bad Nauheim, Germany where Marvin was stationed with the United States Army, and they were able to travel throughout Europe. Marilyn was employed at the Caro Regional Center for over twenty years, most recently as the Administrative Assistant to the Director, retiring on January 1, 1997. She will be remembered as a woman that was full of life and love, and was able to bring a smile to everyone she encountered. Marilyn was an active member of the Cass City United Methodist Church and was a choir member. She loved music and singing and was active with the Tom Thumb Singers and the Michigan-Ohio Concert Choir, touring with that group to Hawaii and Israel. Marilyn enjoyed gardening, traveling, spending time at the beach and being with her family. Marilyn is survived by her husband of over 51 years, Marvin J. Hobart; two daughters, one son and their spouses, Peggy Sue & Doug Osborne of Lake Orion, Becky Hobart & Charles McCormick of Grand Junction, Colorado, Mark & Michele Hobart of Lincoln Park; two grandchildren, Jesse and Cameron Osborne; sisters-in-law and their spouses, Chris & Tom Doty of Maumee, Ohio, Joyce & Clarence Ventline of Cass City; brother-in-law, Kendall & Kathy Hobart of Lutz, Florida and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Keast.
