Marilyn Strachan, age 59, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 5, 1950 in Caro to the late Alexander and Lucille (Henne) Wasik. Marilyn Wasik was a 1968 graduate of Caro High School, and on October 6, 1973 she was united in marriage with Steven Strachan. She had attended Central Michigan University where she acquired her Bachelors Degree and a Masters from Saginaw Valley State University. She had been employed as a high school teacher for Akron-Fairgrove Schools for 37 years. Marilyn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the MEA, and had served as a state officer with the Jaycettes. She enjoyed being a grandmother and spent a lot of her time in that endeavor, and for many years she and Steve enjoyed golfing. She is survived by her husband, Steven Strachan; two sons, Steven II (Victoria) Strachan of Caro and Lucas (Beth) Strachan of Cary, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Steven III, Syrus, Stone and Kaden; her siblings, Alan (Kim) Wasik of Caro, Mark (Debra) Wasik of Saginaw, Barbara (Bill) Putman of Pigeon, Lori (Brian) Phillips and their children, Alexander, Sydney, Trevin and Marik of Caro; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral Liturgy will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Steve Fillion officiating. Rite of Committal will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society (Bosom Buddies Relay Team).
