Marjean "Molly" Harder

1937-2025

Marjean Molly Harder, age 87, passed away Saturday, March 29 at her home in Bay Port with her family at her side.

She was the daughter of Bertha L. (Wyman) and William C. Deering and was raised by her mother and step father Bertha and Albert Roeber.

Marjean lived in Bay Port throughout her lifetime. She graduated from Bay Port high school where she was a cheerleader and basketball player. She married George J. Harder on June 1, 1957. While raising her family, Marjean worked as a school aide, waitress, and housekeeper. She enjoyed bowling with the Bay Port Construction team and playing softball in the Thumb women's league. She attended the Bay Port Community of Christ Church.  Her greatest joy was being a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband George; daughters Gina (Sue Anderson) Harder, Jennifer Kanyak, and daughter-in-law Tricia Harder; six grandchildren; Jackie (Eric) Richardson, Brianne (Eric) Thick, Brinna, Nicole, and Caleb Shippey and Troy Chappel Jr.; seven great grandchildren; Brady, Brielle, Gianna, Peyton, Skylar, Eliza, and Sebastian.

Marjean was preceded in death by her son Dion Harder; great granddaughter Clare; brother Raymond Deering, and sister Linda Poston.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, April 5 at the Bay Port Community of Christ Church. Elder Kathy Swartzendruber will officiate. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

Memorial gifts may be given to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
