Mark Anthony Culbert

Mark Anthony Culbert of Caro, age 83, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at McLaren Bay Region. Mark was born November 25, 1940 in Bay City, the son of the late Kenneth and Cordelia (Trudell) Culbert. He graduated from Fairgrove High School and went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army. On September 26, 1969, Mark married the love of his life and best friend, the former Dolores Ann Hecht, at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville. Their marriage was blessed with nearly fifty years and countless memories. Sadly, Dolores preceded Mark in death on March 20, 2019. He worked for Bruce Cartage, driving truck and delivering home appliances for many years. Mark was a member of the Richville Conservation Club, a Teamster, a member of the Two-Cylinder Club, belonged to the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, and to the Thumb Area Old Engine and Tractor Association. He enjoyed working on John Deere two-cylinder tractors and had a collection of over twenty-five tractors. Mark loved thrifting and finding a good deal at a garage sale or flea market.

Mark leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Maryann Cartwright of Caro and Mike (Barb) Culbert of Caro; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Gary) Rapson of Fife Lake; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Marcella) Hecht of Vassar; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dennis Cartwright; niece, Allison Culbert; and great-nieces, Angelique Marie Tappen.

In keeping with Mark’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville. Rev. Wes Gillaspie will officiate with inurnment for both Mark and Dolores being held immediately after in St. Michael’s Cemetery. The family will be present to receive visitors on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church or the Veteran’s Esteem Team.
