Mark Robert Curtis

After a 16-month battle with illness, Mark Robert Curtis, with the love of his life by his side, was peacefully released from the suffering of this earth. Mark was eternally healed! A decorated military veteran, Mark served honorably in the United States Army covering three deployments into combat zones with the last two in support of Iraqi Freedom. Mark received the Purple Heart medal for being wounded in action during his final deployment. Mark loved spending time with his family, as well as hunting, golfing, snowmobiling, motorcycle riding, and coaching his boys in his passion for wrestling. Mark’s life was changed in 2005 when, prior to serving his last tour of duty in Iraq, he trusted the truths of the Bible; that he was a sinner needing forgiveness by his Creator to be saved from eternal death and separation from God. Mark knew he couldn’t win the fight – of war or life – without the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. It was Mark’s faith that allowed him to go peacefully from this earth. Mark was a fighter, who fought courageously and confidently through war and for health - because he knew that no matter what happened, the end of his short life on earth meant the beginning of an eternal celebration with his Father in heaven, where he is waiting for his family and friends to choose faith in God and be reunited with him in God’s timing. While our hearts are aching, we are comforted with Mark’s confidence in Jesus Christ that saved him from eternal death. Mark’s prayer was that by enduring this battle here on earth, his friends and family would accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We, who survive him and know Christ as our Savior, wait expectantly for the day we are reunited with him in heaven.

Mark was the devoted husband to his loving wife, Rachel Curtis, and dedicated father of their children, DJ (23), Bradyn (16), Chloe (12), and Jonathon (9). Mark is also survived by his parents, Gary and Roberta Curtis; and brothers, Michael (Stacy) Curtis and Adam Curtis. He is also survived by his aunt Sherry Giniel, and many beloved family members, friends, and Army brothers. Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Kathleen Longtine, Charles and Mary Curtis, and cousin Chuckie Curtis.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723. A visitation hour at 10:00 a.m. will precede the Celebration of Life service beginning on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Caro, 1535 West Gilford Road, Caro, MI 48723. Interment is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery located at 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442 with dinner to follow at First Baptist Church of Caro.
