Mark James Smith, 47 of Cass City, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at home.
Born in Lapeer on April 29, 1966, he was the son of the late Richard Carl and Kathleen Saundra (Lincoln) Smith, and was a 1984 Laker High School graduate.
Mark was a restaurant manager in the Saginaw area; he wasn't afraid to work hard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and driving or "ratting around." He also enjoyed gardening and canning. He was currently building a new log cabin and pole barn at Possum Lodge. On May 4, 2013, Mark and Suzanne LeMaire were united together in a committment ceremony at their home.
He is survived by two sons, Noah Smith and Job Smith, and their mother, Beth Weller, all of Vassar; his committed partner, Suzanne LeMaire of Cass City; siblings, Paul Smith of Unionville, Rosemary (Mark) Anderson of Frankenmuth, Timothy Smith and Donna Arnott of Bad Axe, Saundra (Mike) Buchinger of Saginaw, and Julie (Robert) McIntosh of Auburn; sister-in-law, Mary Smith of Clio; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great great-nieces and nephews; and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Salem United Methodist Church, Pigeon, with Rev. David Stewart, pastor, officiating. Friends may visit at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the family discretionary fund.
