Marlys Carr of Caro, age 87, passed peacefully into heaven on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Ascension St. Mary's in Saginaw with her family by her side. She was born on December 30, 1935 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Kluth) Niedert. Marlys married the love of her life, Donald Carr, on August 30, 1958 in Waterloo, Iowa. Together they shared almost fifty years of marriage, three wonderful children, and countless memories. Sadly, Don passed away on January 23, 2008. Marlys worked at the Caro Medical Clinic for several years and went on to manage her husband's Clinical Psychology practice until her retirement to become a full-time grandma. Her family meant the world to her and with everything she did, she had them in mind. Marlys was so proud of her family and felt truly blessed by each member. In addition to her commitment to her family, she was committed to the community. Marlys volunteered and always tried to improve the community in any way she could. She had been involved with the Garden Club, Friends of the Caro Area Library and the Caro hospital auxiliary, endowment, and quality committees. Marlys was a very active member of the Caro United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She loved a quiet game of solitaire, bird watching, flowers, her devoted circle of friends and the occasional late night shopping trip. Marlys' love, compassion, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be missed dearly. Marlys leaves to cherish her memory her children, Chris (Julie) Carr, Amy (Henry) Wagner, and Sara (Shawn) Kuch; grandchildren, Madison (Brent) Hirschman, Noah (Jessie) Carr, Zoe (Jeff) Wright, Ashley (Chad) Mothersell, Ben (Karen) Wagner, Jake Wagner, Ava Kuch, and Ronan Kuch; great-grandchildren, Blake and Winnie Hirschman, Callum Carr, Maggie and William Mothersell; brother, Russel Niedert; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Marlys was preceded in death by seven of her siblings and many other relatives. A celebration of her amazing life will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Caro United Methodist Church. The family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro and again on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her 11:00 a.m. service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Dr. Donald and Marlys Carr Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Tuscola County Community Foundation.
