Marsh Raymond, age 70, passed away peacefully at Arbor Hospice Residence in Ann Arbor, Friday, October 3, 2008, following a valiant, three year battle with cancer. Marsh was born August 12, 1938 in Caro, the son of the late Milford R. & Ethel (Schmidt) Raymond. He graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1956 and served with the U.S. Army for two years. Following his service, Marsh returned to Caro and was involved in car sales and real estate, before forming the Tuckey-Raymond Insurance Agency in the early 1980s, and later joined with the Emil Rummel Insurance Agency in Caro in 1997. He was a lifelong and faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro. Marsh was also a member of the Caro Transit Authority, the Equalization Board of Almer Township and was a charter member of the Caro Baseball Federation, serving as a coach and umpire for many years. He enjoyed a variety of activities and hobbies that included golf, hunting, skeet shooting, fishing, boating and playing bridge with his friends. Marsh was united in marriage with the former Mary Lu Schornak on June 26, 1965 in Caro. She preceded him in death on August 28, 2002. Surviving are their daughter and her husband, Susan & Tim Holmes of Valparaiso, Indiana; four grandchildren, Lyndsey, Jeffrey, Sydney and Zachary Holmes; two brothers, Wayne “Lefty” & Karen Raymond of Caseville, Carl Raymond, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his loving girlfriend of these last four and a half years, Linda Lawrence of Caro. In addition to his parents and wife, Marsh was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey M. Raymond in 1993 and brother, Terrence Raymond in 1986.
