Martha Dodge

“The Memory of the righteous is blessed₦” Proverbs 10:7 Martha Maleta Dodge, age 100, of Caro passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro. Maleta was born July 10, 1911 along with her identical twin sister, Helen Arleta (Hanes) Thane, in Colling to the late George and Pearl (Whetstone) Hanes. They were joined several years later by their brother, Clare H. Hanes. Maleta married Edwin George Dodge of the Cass City area on May 3, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1973. They were blessed with two sons, Gale (Becky) Dodge of Midland and Gary (Joan) Dodge of Caro; four grandchildren, Kelly, Debra, Derek and Leslie Dodge; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses, Helen and R.C. Thane and Clare and Marie Hanes. For over twenty years, Maleta (Mae) was well known for her nursing care and owner of an adult foster care home for the elderly. She also had a reputation for being a great cook and organizer of many special dinners, receptions, and banquets in the area. Maleta was very active in the First Baptist Church of Caro and later at the Wahjamega Country Church. In addition she led an interdenominational ladies Bible study for twenty-five years. Maleta also was active in many missionary projects and programs over the years. She loved her Lord and will be remembered for her love and care of others, especially her family and close friends. Funeral services will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012 with Rev. Allen Stebbins officiating. Visitation will be at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Almer Township Cemetery.
