Martin F. Knost, 88, of Port Austin, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 at home under hospice care.
Marty was born March 29, 1935 in Detroit to the late Felix M. And Mary Ann (O’Neil) Knost. Marty served in the US Army from 1955 to 1958 in France. When he returned home he received a degree in accounting and worked for the US Government as a Corporate IRS Accountant in Detroit. He retired at the age of 55 and moved from Warren to Port Austin where he built a home. Marty was known as a great fisherman, fishing mostly for perch and golfing with his friends. He also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family, six grandchildren and many friends.
Marty is survived by children Christine (Terry) Braun of Port Austin and Kenneth (Sharon) Knost of Brighton; grandchildren Joshua, Jessica, Jennifer Knost and Rebecca, Bradley and Jaclyn Braun; sister MaryAnn (Robert) Gray of Illinois; brother-in-law Henry (Donna) Kreller of Port Austin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly, sister Midge Scully, and brother George.
A memorial luncheon will be from 11:00am to 2:00pm Friday, March 29th, Marty’s 89th Birthday, at the Franklin Inn in Bad Axe. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements. Interment will be in Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Pigeon.
