Marveline J. Richards

June 3, 1923 — March 10, 2014

Marveline J. Richards, age 90, of Elkton passed away peacefully Monday morning, March 10, at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe.

She was born June 3, 1923 at the home of her parents and only child of the late Frederick and Anna Marie (Bosse) Brolhost in Pemberville, Ohio. She graduated from Pemberville High School in 1941.
On March 2, 1946 she was united in marriage to Scott Thorton Richards. They made their home on a farm near Elmore, OH, where she raised six children, managed a large garden and help with the farm. The family moved to Huron County near Pinnebog in 1961, then to Elkton in 1972.

Gardening, both flowers and vegetable, was her joy and passion. Marveline served as elder and treasurer at the Chandler Presbyterian Church for over a decade. She also enjoyed traveling, playing scrabble with friends, quilting, sewing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also helped friends and neighbors in need and when they had health concerns.
Since September of 2005, she has resided at Courtney Manor due to her own health issues (where she received excellent care).

Surviving are five children, Dan (Karen) Richards of Republic (UP), MI, Paul Richards of St. Paul, MN, Carolyn Erkfitz of New Brighton, MN, Bernice Richards of Elkton and Jim Richards of Pemberville, OH; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 33 years, Scott; a son, Edward, just one month ago and three infant grandchildren, Corey, Kathryn and Sarah.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 12, at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. CLP Kathy Grimes, pastor of Chandler Presbyterian Church will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Memorial gifts may be made to Chandler Presbyterian Church, Relay for Life or Courtney Manor
