Marvin "Bud" Allen Curl of Caro, age 89, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025 at McLaren Bay Region. He was born June 2, 1935 in Tindall, South Dakota, the son of the late Allen and Edith (Engels) Curl. The oldest of five children, Marvin grew up on the family farm in South Dakota, helping tend the fields and was even apart of the Curl Family Carnival. On December 31, 1960, Marvin married the former Sandra Gould. Their marriage was blessed with over sixty-four years, five wonderful children, and countless memories. Sadly, Sandra passed away on September 24, 2024.
Marvin proudly served in the United States Army From 1960 until 1964, earning Sharpshooter, Mechanics Badge, and Good Conduct Medal. Throughout life, he was a very hard worker, starting out on the family farm, working in the salt, gold, and coal mines, hunting, trapping, and selling produce. Marvin worked at Pontiac Motors for over thirty years, where he held various roles as a press operator, welder, and line worker. He always made sure his family was well taken care of and made sure to instill in them the value of hard work. In his free time, Marvin loved to hunt, fish, boat, and garden. He was a wonderful family man, and you could always count on him to babysit. Marvin’s easy-going, loving, and hardworking memory will be missed dearly.
Marvin leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Corina Curl (Gil Godinez), Robert Curl, Charlene (Craig) Vollmar, Brian Curl, and Jason Curl; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Cole and Karen (Jim) Bland; special family friend, Adam Miller; and his best cat, Zippy. In addition to his parents and wife, Marvin was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tawni Nevaeh; grandson, Todd Withers; brothers, Gary Curl and Bernie Curl.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. The family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of his service.
