Mary Allen

Mary Ann Allen, age 75, of Caro, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2009 at her residence in the arms of her family and aided by Heartland Hospice. She was born on July 2, 1934 in Flint to the late Lewis and Dorothy (Yost) Green. On February 2, 1952 the former Mary Ann Green and Robert Nigel Allen, Sr. were united in marriage in Flint. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2007. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, ceramics, playing cards and bingo. Surviving are one daughter, Robin Allen and her son, Timothy Allen of Caro; two sons, Anthony Allen of Caro, as well as Casey and Sandy Allen of New York; seven grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren; several sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy (Allen) Tarring; a son, Robert Nigel Allen, Jr.; and the remainder of her siblings. A memorial service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Joe Atchinson, Heartland Hospice, officiating. In accordance with Mary wishes, cremation has taken place and inurnment will take place at the Indianfields Township Cemetery. There will be no advance visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mary Ann Allen family discretionary fund, c/o Robin Allen.
