Mary Irene Atkinson

Mary Irene Atkinson of Caro, age 68, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 at her home. Mary was born July 16, 1950. She was employed for many years at nursing homes in Florida and Michigan. Mary had attended the Catholic church in Kinde. She enjoyed crocheting, and especially liked shopping at thrift stores and garage sales. Mary is survived by two sons, Kenny Smith and his wife, Lisa, of Vassar, Kevin Smith of Caro; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; siblings, Linda Ward of Winter Haven, Florida, Betty Pangborn of Essexville, Raymond Furnace of Kinde, Norma Smith of Bad Axe; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Donald Smith. In keeping with Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held at a later date.
