Mary J. Burns, 91, of Caseville, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Scheurer Long Term Care in Pigeon while under hospice care.
Mary was born March 12, 1921 in Flint to the late Boele and Minnie (Barker) De’Hann. She graduated from St. Mary High School in Flint in 1938. She was a graduate of Borgess Nursing College in Kalamazoo. She married Edward Francis Burns in April of 1942 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Detroit. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1975.
Mary was a retired Registered Nurse, having worked at numerous hospitals and nursing homes in the Detroit area. In 1984 she moved from Dearborn to Caseville, while the winter months were spent in New Port Richey, Florida. She was a former member of the Caseville Eagles. She enjoyed boating, swimming, golf and dancing.
She is survived by her children Mary Frances (Rudolph) Saenz of Livonia, Daniel E. of Caseville, Margaret (Kevin) Perdue of Perry and David M. of Boyne City; grandchildren Kelly and Christopher (Nicole) Saenz; brother William (Uta) De’Hann of Florida; and special friend Michael Morgan of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her sister Martha Quilico.
A memorial mass will be at 2:00 pm Friday, July 27th at St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville.
Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville is handling the arrangements.
