Mary Jane "Mary Jane" Clinesmith

Mary Jane Clinesmith of Caro, age 77, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Satchell's Christian Retirement Home. Mary was born January 1, 1942 in Caro, the daughter of the late Keith & Virginia (Lawrie) Cross. She graduated from Caro High School with the Class of 1960 and began work shortly after for W. J. Moore Telephone Company as an operator for several years. She later took a position with the Caro Regional Center, first at the switchboard, then as a care attendant, and finally as an LPN after completing nursing school at St. Clair Community College, retiring in 1989. She was united in marriage with James W. Clinesmith, Jr. on October 1, 1966 in Caro, and he preceded her in death on March 2, 2009. In her earlier years, Mary enjoyed roller skating, sewing, knitting, needlepoint, camping, and always had time for conversation over a cup of coffee. Mary Jane is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Jackie & Jeff Lintner of Caro, Kim & Mike Smith of Oskaloosa, Kansas; one grandson, Jeff J. Lintner and his wife, Mandy, of Akron; four granddaughters, Sarah Lintner of Caro, Andrea England and her husband, Jamie, of Springhill, Kansas, Samantha Smith and her significant other, Tyler Herzberg, of Oskaloosa, Kansas, Mary Smith of Lawrence, Kansas; seven great-grandchildren, Kilee Lintner of Akron, Jacob Seldon of Akron, Amelia Lintner of Caro, Jamey Lintner of Akron, Jameson England of Springhill, Kansas, Michael Smith-Herzberg of Oskaloosa, Kansas, Daniel Smith-Herzberg of Oskaloosa, Kansas; siblings and their spouses, Roberta & John Bender of Caro, Barbara & David "Butch" Brown of Caro, Ruth & Tim Andress of Caro, Alan & Deb Cross of Gagetown, Sherry & Matt Kolton of Port Huron; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by four siblings, Adelbert Keith Cross, Edward Charles Cross, Faith Ann Cross, and Beverly Jean Cross. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the donor's favorite veteran's charity.
