Mary Ann Cortimilia

Mary Ann Cortimilia of Cass City, age 48, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at United Hospice of Marlette. Mary was born May 20, 1975 in Cass City. Mary’s sister fondly remembers the day that baby Mary was brought home from the hospital, and how overjoyed she was that God had answered her prayers for a little sister. As a child, Mary loved Sunday School at the Missionary Church where she learned about God and sang along to her favorite hymns. Her days were filled with helping her mother in the kitchen, bike rides, beach trips, McDonalds lunches, and afternoons at her grandma’s farm where she would play with kittens and assist in making pierogies. Even as an adult, Mary could recite her grandma’s pierogi recipe and the names of each kitten on the farm! In 2001, Mary graduated from Highland Pines School in Caro. She became a resident of the Virgnia Street Home in 2016, where she enjoyed crafting, shopping, singing in the shower, having her nails painted, taking pictures, and cuddling her cat, Chip. Mary will be remembered by the many “Mary Stories” of the Viriginia Street Home, her determined nature, and creative spirit.

Mary is survived by her mother, Donna Hallitt; siblings, Terry Cortimilia and his wife, Linda, Debbie Ashley, Danny Cortimilia, Jerry Cortimilia, and Bobby Cortimilia; and the many friends and staff members of the Virginia Street Home, who hope that Heaven has fulfilled her famous “surround mode” request. They always tried, but they could never get it quite right. Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Darlene Kay Cortimilia.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. Burial will follow at the Elkland Township Cemetery in Cass City. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.
