Mary Elizabeth Curtis

Mary Elizabeth Curtis of Caro, age 91, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021 peacefully into the arms of Jesus with her daughter, Judy Ann and granddaughter, Crystal at her side. She was born January 15, 1930 in Turrell, Arkansas to the late Robert, Jr. and Hazel (Leasure) Hilliard and married her childhood sweetheart, Charles "Chuck" W. Curtis on March 25, 1948. Mary enjoyed quilting, sewing, and listening to classical country music. Most importantly, she cherished time spent working hand-in-hand with Chuck and doting on him when they were not working. Mary is survived by her loving husband of seventy-three years, Chuck; three children, Gary Curtis, Judy Ann Scholtens and Mary Lou Smith; ten grandchildren; and twenty-two great- grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a son, Charles R. Curtis; a grandson, Chuckie; a granddaughter, Julie; one sister; two brothers; and her precious little dog, Libby. In keeping with Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering is being planned for a later date. Judy Ann would like to extend her heartfelt gratitude to First State Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion during her mother's final days.
