Mary L. Depner was taken home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the age of 92.
She was born April 26, 1921 in Caseville, the daughter Joseph and Frances (Punke) Pelant.
Mary attended Rock City Country School and later went to work in Detroit as a nanny.
On August 6, 1938, she married John Depner of Caseville, and they enjoyed 64 years together. She was a devoted mother and helped for many years on the farm. She loved her family, friends, garden, and flowers.
For many years they were members of St. John's Lutheran of Berne where she taught Sunday school for twenty five years. Later they became members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Sand Point.
In 1953, both Mary and John made personal commitments to Jesus Christ at a Billy Graham crusade in Detroit. They lived their faith and Mary shared God's love by word and deed. Over the years, her special ministry was visiting, writing cards, and praying for many.
Mary is survived by her children; John (Ruth) Depner of Caseville, Alaine (Todd) Depner/Beck of Bangor, Michael (Kim) Depner of Caseville, and Ivoughn Depner of Caseville, and grandchildren; Eric (Charlene), Dan and Chelsea Depner, Alison and Jimmy Hard and a great grandson, Vincent.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; son Gary, brothers; Edward, Joseph, and Jerry Pelant.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, June 6, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Sand Point. Pastor Steve Stolarczyk will officiate with burial at Caseville Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church from 2 to 8 PM Wednesday and noon until the time of service.
