Mary Ellen Cashman

Mary Ellen (Gorman) Cashman, 67, of Kinde, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, in Saginaw.

Mary Ellen was born on August 12, 1958, in North Detroit to the late Thomas and Genevie (Maichrzyk) Gorman. She graduated from Bishop Foley High School and went on to attend Michigan State University.

Mary Ellen married the love of her life, Terry Cashman, on September 24, 1982, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church located in Royal Oak. Together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and devotion to family. She worked in food service for Heartland ManorCare and dedicated time to her role with the United States Postal Service.

Mary Ellen found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She was active in local art clubs, loved bird watching, and never missed her Sunday crossword puzzles. She had an extensive collection of frog ornaments that always seemed to make people smile. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially the treasured days at the family cottage in Kinde, Michigan.

Mary Ellen was truly the life of the party, bringing warmth, humor, and light wherever she went. She was cherished in her many roles — wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, neighbor, and friend. Stubborn in spirit yet steadfast in love, she remained a fierce and faithful supporter of her family until her last breath. Her presence filled every room, and her memory will continue to fill the hearts of those who loved her.

She was preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Genevie Gorman; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Kevin O’Shaughnessy; brother-in-law, James Coates; mother-in law and father-in-law, Theresa and John; and brother-in-law, John Cashman.

Mary Ellen is survived by her devoted husband, Terry Cashman; her children, Patrick (Melissa) Cashman, Devin (Karly) Cashman, and Megan (Keith) Cashman; her siblings, Thomas (Teri) Gorman Jr. and Patricia Coates; her sister-in-law, Sharon (Terry) Moore and brother-in-law, Michael (Lynn) Cashman; and her beloved grandchildren, Chloe, Nathan, and Cooper Cashman. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Mary Ellen’s legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
