Mary E. Hazard, age 89, of Bad Axe, died Friday afternoon, February 9, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw.
She was born November 7, 1917 at the home of her parents, the late David and Anna (Heck) Thompson in Chandler Twp.
On January 30, 1933, she was united in marriage to John "Jack" Hazard in Detroit and lived in the Elkton area all her married life. Jack died October 11, 1996. In April of 1999, Mary moved from the country into Bad Axe.
She was attending the First Presbyterian Church in Bad Axe until her health failed.
Surviving are three daughters, Winnie Robinson of Edwardsberg, Virginia (Dick Hamlin) Trost of Troy and Ruth (Jim) Fitchett of Caro; two sons, Bob (Dorene) Hazard of Grand Ledge and Herman Hazard of Bridgeport; 17 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren; three sisters, Zelma (Herman) Bauer of Souletown, Ruth Gilbert of Grant Twp. and Bessie (Jim) Champagne of Elkton and her brother, Lorney (Leona) Thompson of Zephyrhills, FL. Preceding her in death were a son, John; a daughter Helen Bassett and four brothers, Henry, Ervin, Raymond and Bob Thompson.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 13, at the First Presbyterian Church, Bad Axe. Rev. Jan Dykeshorn, pastor will officiate with burial in Colfax Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Monday and at the church after 1:00 PM Tuesday.
Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Bad Axe or the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church.
