Mary Jane Noble

Janey Noble, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on December 18, 2024, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro, Michigan. Born on December 16, 1938, to the late Joseph and Ethel (Dinsmore) Young.

Janey was married to her loving and devoted husband Jerry Noble for 42 years, who preceded her in death in 2017. The day God took Jerry home a huge part of her went with him. Together, they built a life centered around community, church and family. Janey was a wonderful homemaker, partnering and contributing to their home and farm.

Growing up on the Young family farm in Gilford, the seeds of a strong work ethic were planted. Her elementary education was at Black School, a one-room schoolhouse, and she graduated from Fairgrove High School. In her early years Janey was active in 4-H, exhibiting many handiwork crafts and showing cattle at the fairgrounds. Wishing to share that experience for the next generation, she became a 4H club leader.

Janey enjoyed living the majority of her life in the Akron-Fairgrove area. As she drove around Tuscola County, she often told historical stories of the families who inhabited that homestead. She was privileged to be surrounded by many caring friends, considerate neighbors, a loving family, and a local faith community.

She was actively involved in Sunday School, vacation Bible school and Women’s Association at the Fairgrove Presbyterian Church. She was known for her friendliness and her willingness to aid others. Possessing a generous heart, Janey prepared nutritious meals for many in need.

Janey enjoyed many hobbies: dancing, crossword puzzles and painting, and singing songs of faith around the house. She loved cooking and made an incredible lemon pie! She crafted many items by crocheting and sewing to raise funds to benefit her local community and church.

In the summertime she enjoyed weekend camping adventures in Michigan with Jerry. They loved wintering in Florida, as they enjoyed socializing with many friends.

Janey leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Marsha Roth (husband Greg) of Winters, CA., and Jodi Haubenstricker of Fairgrove, MI. She was a proud grandmother to and Katelyn Haubenstricker of Bay City, MI,, Amanda Roth of Charlotte, NC., and Joseph Noble Roth of Winters, CA..

Janey is also survived by her brother John Young (Mari) of Caro, MI,. sisters-in-laws, Sandra Pike (Dale) of Fairgrove, MI. Karen Sonquist of Caro, MI. and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Janey was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Lucille Noble, brother-in-laws Robert Noble and Vic Sonquist and sister-in-law Maralyn Penberthy.

It is with great rejoicing and peace that we release Janey into the hands of the Lord who showed her tender mercy and loved her. Now she has a new mind and body.
