Mary Kusek, age 92, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2011 at her home. She was born on June 18, 1918 in Caro to the late Vincent and Anna (Rohowiak) Sochocki. As a young lady, she went to work at the Clark Canning Company, and then worked in a factory in Detroit for a short period during World War II. The former Mary Sochocki married Edward Kusek in March of 1943 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1987. The remainder of her life was spent in Caro where she worked out of her house, and was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and for many years was a member of the Caro V.F.W. Post #4164 Auxiliary. She enjoyed her family and was a wonderful cook. She is survived by two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Edward (Maureen) Kusek, Robert V. Kusek and Shirley A. Kusek all of Caro; four grandchildren, Brenda (Scott) Schenk of Mayville, Kelly (Tom) Maher of Mayville, Chuck Heritier and Eva of Sebewaing, and Chris Kusek of Caro; two great-grandchildren, Eathan Schenk and Jordan; her siblings, Florence Zyrowski of Dearborn, Ann Zyrowski of Cheasaning, and Stella Smith of Milan; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and William Sochocki; and three sisters, Frances Rosnaczyk, Rosie Ciecora, and Barbara Szcygiel. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Mary Kusek family discretionary fund, c/o Robert Kusek, 302 S.
