Mary E. Lagos, age 88, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Caro Community Hospital. She was born in Caro on April 1, 1921 to the late Steven and Elizabeth (Stisklo) Urban. The former Mary Urban married Stanley Lagos on January 25, 1941 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1990. Mary was a homemaker and farm wife who raised three sons. She thoroughly enjoyed arranging flowers from her garden and working with the flowers at the Tuscola County Fair. In addition to her membership at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she was a member of the Caro V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Tuscola County Polish American Club, and for years had been a “Pink Lady” as a member of the auxiliary at Florida Hospital, Heartland Division. Stanley and Mary were avid bowlers, shuffle boarders, and enjoyed playing golf. She is survived by three sons, David (Paula) Lagos of Cass City, Richard (Linda) Lagos of Caro and Michael Lagos of Cass City; four grandchildren, Doug (Beth) Lagos of Cass City, Terri (Tom) Dillabough of Freeland, Jeff (Sandy) Lagos of Sunbury, Ohio and Brenda (Bradley) Bigham of Caro; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Lagos, Rebecca Lagos and Alexandria Lagos; her siblings, Ann Will of Vassar and Steven (Josephine) Urban of California; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Ashley Lagos; two sisters and two brothers, Theresa Putman, Pete Urban, George Urban and Lucille Hanzak; and one brother-in-law, Al Will. Funeral Liturgy will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Rite of Committal will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:00 pm. On Wednesday evening there will be a service at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Caro V.F.W. Auxiliary.
