Mary Leipprandt, 92, of Pigeon, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe.

Mary was born April 23, 1925 in Fairhaven Twp to the late Walter and Jane Mitin.  She graduated in 1944 from Bay Port High School.  She married John C. Leipprandt on March 3, 1951 at Salem EUB Church in Pigeon.

Mary wrote, composed and performed music throughout the Thumb.  She was the church organist at local Methodist churches in Pigeon (Salem), Hayes and Caseville and played for many weddings, concerts and funerals.  She also wrote a column in the Pigeon Progress called “Rambling along the Pigeon River.”

She is survived by her husband John; daughters Esther (Dennis) Wood of Oregon, Karen Wood of Oregon and Patty (Brian) Murphy of Southgate; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her sons Tom and Marty, grandson Justin Wood, and all of her siblings:  Alex, John, Annie, Jay and Clara.

Funeral services will be at 11:00am Saturday, February 17 th at the Hayes United Methodist Church with Rev. Matthew Chapman officiating.  Burial will be in New Bay Port Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-8 Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Elkton.  Memorials may be made to the Hayes United Methodist Church or the Gideons.
